Why LKC Cloth Diapers are the best choice for baby

Posted by Vanessa Tomchik on

So you've reached the end of the internet researching cloth diapers.  Trust me, I get it.  When I started cloth diapering I was so confused and frankly anxious about what to get, how to get it and where to get it!  But don't worry, we are here to hold your hand through this experience.  Diapering your baby should be fun!  So make some coffee, and watch our cloth diapering story, it may help to clarify why Lighthouse Kids Company is the best choice for diapering your baby.

Who We Are

My name is Vanessa and I'm the owner of Lighthouse Kids Company, and we are an all natural company that sells easy-to-use award-winning cloth diapers.  I wanted to share this video with you to show you how easy cloth diapering can be, and to tell you that no matter how you’re diapering right now. You can be successful using Lighthouse Kids Company cloth diapers. Why? Because simply put, they are the highest quality easiest to use cloth diapers.

Let's talk about the difference between cloth diapers and disposable diapers. If you're a parent or a caregiver, you know that disposable diapers contain not-so-great chemicals.  Also, they're prone to rashes and blowouts.  In the past, if you wanted to go the more natural route, you could use old school cloth diapers with pins.  And the problem with these is that they keep baby perpetually wet, which again, causes rash, and makes it for a terrible experience for poor baby.  That's why I designed Lighthouse. Kids Company Signature AIO diaper, which is the best of both worlds.

Now what makes Lighthouse Kids Company diaper so special?

Let's begin by talking about the outside of the diaper.  The outside shell is soft and waterproof. It won't let anything in or out, but it's still breathable. The reverse side of the shell is made out of athletic wicking jersey (AWJ), which is a breathable material and the top contains a tummy panel that keeps leaks from happening. Lighthouse Kids Company diapers come with a flat back elastic and this prevents any blowouts whatsoever from coming through the back of the diaper.  One of the coolest things about this diaper, is that it adjusts from birth to potty training.

Our All-In-One cloth diapers, as well as our Pocket cloth diapers and Switch AI2 covers has the ability to fit newborns all the way to 32 pounds.  For babies bigger than 32 pounds, we have the Supreme diaper for toddlers and special needs kids. All you have to do to get a bigger size, is adjust the buttons in the front.

Now, here's the true innovative part of this diaper.  Remember, we talked about wetness causing rashes, while this diaper can stay dry or wet, meaning the parent gets to choose the feel and experience of the baby depending on what they prefer.

When a baby is older, let's say if they're three or four years old and they're potty training, feeling wet will help them with body awareness, which means faster, potty learning.  And all of Lighthouse Kids Co. inserts are OEKO-Tex 100 Certified.

Cloth Diaper All-In-One

What do you do with the poop?

We obviously we got a solution for that! Lighthouse Kids Company has biodegradable bamboo liners.  All you have to do to use these is to line your diaper with it. And voila. If baby goes poop, it gets caught in the liner, not the diaper!  From there you can flush, any waste down the toilet, and then, you can just throw away the liner. If you're out and about with baby, you just put the dirty diaper in the wet bag. And that way you can keep it until washday, this wet bag is leak-proof. So you don't have to worry about anything coming out of the diaper until washday.

How do you wash cloth diapers?

Cloth diapers are washed every two to three days.  Once you have a little pile of them, you can put them in your washing machine. Remember the solids have already been removed from them and flushed down the toilet.  From here, you do a pre wash and then a hot wash with detergent once they're done. They're ready for the dryer. Cloth diapers can be dried on low and they'll be ready to go. Good as new!   Want more detail?  Check out this page.

How much does it cost?

For one child, parents typically have 24 cloth diapers, which means one drawer of Lighthouse Kids Company cloth diapers replaces every disposable you would ever need to purchase.  With Lighthouse Kids Company, The total cost for diapering your baby is $599 dollars and 76 cents. That is a $1650 savings and that's just for one child. If you reuse these with your next child, you save even more.

Environmental Impact of Cloth Diapering and Disposable Diapering

Now, let's talk about the environmental cost of disposable diapering about 18 billion disposable diapers are thrown into the trash every year and each diaper takes 500 years to decompose which means that every single disposable diaper that has ever been made has Not decomposed yet. Let that sink in for a minute.

Why I Chose To Cloth Diaper

My precious newborn baby boy was born with a rash that would not go away. No matter what we did. We tried creams, we tried everything that we could nothing worked. My mom suggested we try cloth, diapers, you know, the ones with the pins?  And within 48 Hours, his rash was magically gone.  That's when I knew. My mission to tell parents that you can cloth diaper easily and simply with Lighthouse Kids.
